1. SAND ANALYSIS
- The laboratory is equipped with a line for testing foundry sand quality.
- Cohesiometer – testing the compressive strength of the sand mixture
- Electronic permeameter – determining the permeability of the sand mixture
- Infrared dryer – determining moisture content in foundry sand mixture samples
- Rammer – compacting sand mixture samples
- Device for determining the strength of foundry cores or molds
2. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION ANALYSIS
Material chemical composition analysis is performed using a high-quality spectroscope operating on the principle of optical emission spectrometry – the LECO GDS 500A.
Capability for quantitative analysis of the following samples:
- low-alloy steels
- cast iron
- Al alloys
- Cu alloys
- bronze, etc.
3. VISUAL INSPECTION OF CASTINGS
After the casting is cleaned, an initial inspection is performed to prevent or minimize potential defects.
Subsequently, the castings undergo shot blasting, followed by a detailed visual inspection of each individual piece. If the casting meets quality standards, it is packaged and transported to the warehouse.
If irregularities are detected during inspection, the casting is sent for remedial work and subsequently undergoes re-inspection.
4. CASTING DIMENSIONAL INSPECTION
Casting dimensions are measured using a FARO measuring arm. Measurements are performed according to customer-defined drawings with an accuracy of ±0.005 mm.
5. MICROSTRUCTURE INSPECTION
Microstructure examination, including sample preparation via grinding (from coarsest to finest), polishing, and etching.
Microscopic examinations are conducted to determine the microstructure, the proportion of specific structures (micro-constituents), grain size, grain orientation, the size and distribution of inclusions, etc.
The microstructure is determined on etched samples using an Olympus optical digital microscope with magnifications of 50x, 100x, 150x, and 200x. Image analysis is performed automatically using LECO software.
6. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES INSPECTION
Hardness testing using the Brinell indentation method.
Indentation measurement – Brinell Video System HBVS 100
7. MATERIAL STRENGTH TESTING
Static tensile testing using the SHIMADZU AG-X testing machine allows for the determination of key material properties, such as:
- tensile strength – Rm
- yield strength – Rp0.2
- elongation – A
- reduction of area – Z
The computer-controlled SHIMADZU AG-X testing machine enables the performance of tests and the digital recording of results, as well as the generation of a stress-strain diagram based on the obtained test data.
The testing machine is equipped with a video extensometer and complies with all EN-ISO-6892 standards.
